"You've seen one, you've
seen 'em all."
PUZZLE:
Move one match to make the house face east instead of west.
Last month's
solution:
One way of looking at it is: the dealer
bought the paining for $70 and sold it for $80: profit $10. But
then he bought if back for $90 having just sold it for $80; he loses
$10. Thus far his profit is nil. by applying the same faulty
reasoning, he then sells it for $100 after buying the painting back
for $90; so he's made another $10. Overall profit: $10
Another misleading argument runs like this: he sells for $80
after buying for $70;:profit $10. Then he loses $20 by buying
back for $90 what he originally paid $70 for. But he gains $10
by selling for $100 what he had bought back for $90. Result: He
breaks even.
Neither argument is correct. Both involve the use of the same
sums of money twice. The simplest way to view it is perhaps
this: is total outlay is $70 + $90 or $160. but his
payments amounts to $80 + $100 or $180. Overall profit:
$20.

QUOTES:
I have come to believe that giving
and receiving are really the same. Giving and "receiving"
– not giving and taking.

Something
to Meditate:
A NEPALESE GOOD LUCK TANTRA TOTEM
1. Give people more than they expect and do it cheerfully.
2. Memorize your favorite poem.
3. Don't believe all you hear, spend all you have or sleep
all you want.
4. When you say, "I'm sorry", look the person in the eye.
5. Never laugh at anyone's dreams. People who don't have
dreams don't have much.
6. Love deeply and passionately. You might get hurt but
it's the only way to live life completely.
7. Talk slowly but think quickly.
8. When someone asks you a question you don't want to
answer, smile and ask, "Why do you want to know?"
9. Remember that great love and great achievements involve
great risk.
10. When you lose, don't lose the lesson.
11. Remember the three R's: Respect for self; Respect for
others; Responsibility for all your actions.
12. Spend some time alone.
13. Open your arms to change, but don't let go of your
values.
14. Share your knowledge. It's a way to achieve immortality.
15. Be gentle with the earth.
16. Never interrupt when you are being flattered.
17. If you make a lot of money, put it to use helping others
while you are living. That is wealth's greatest satisfaction.
18. Learn the rules then break some.
19. Judge your success by what you had to give up in order
to get it.
20. Remember that your character is your destiny.
Exercise:
Three challenges must be met to determine a professional
course:
-
Gain an understanding of who you are. Examine your life
and determine your purpose.
-
Be true to your vision. Always seek the freedom to be
yourself, even if this means sacrificing the approval of
others.
-
Organize your efforts and set them in motion. Make
necessary changes, both personal and professional. Make a
transitional plan. Acquire the knowledge and skills
necessary for your success.
There comes a point in every professional journey when
self-exploration must be confronted. Uncovering your values
and goals and then taking steps to reach them is an
important course of action in any career path.

Articles and Links for the Month:
Sometimes it is a great web site and sometimes just
a one page article. So here are some resources to check out:
- I am sure that most of you
know about the Hunger
Site at the UN. If you don’t, all you do is click a
button and somewhere in the world a hungry person gets a meal to
eat, at no cost to you. The food is paid for by corporate
sponsors (who gain advertising in the process because you see
their logo).
